Julie Barban                                                                                                                                                                   RAD Registered Teacher, A.B.A.T.D., I.S.T.D. National

Originally from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, Julie studied and trained in ballet, tap and jazz at the prestigious Sherry Walsh Academy of Dance Arts taking yearly BATD exams and competing throughout Ontario.  Julie continued her studies at Ryerson and Dancespace under the direction of Kennetha O’Heany in Toronto.  It was at this time Julie decided to focus her teaching skills on ballet and became a registered teacher for the Royal Academy of Dance.  Moving to Calgary Alberta Julie continued to  teach and enter children in RAD exams, choreograph for competitions and continued her studies in Child Psychology, Anatomy, History of Ballet and Music in Relation to Dance to achieve the RAD teaching diploma.  Moving back to Ontario to raise her family in Haliburton, Julie openedHeritage Ballet now going into it’s 16th year. Julie continues to update her teaching skills and knowledge by attending further courses and seminars.  Julie has also had extensive opportunities with choreography working with local theatre groups Highlands Summer Festival, Highlands Little Theatre and R. Murray Schafer’s productions in Haliburton Forest.   Julie has choreographed several dance pieces for Haliburton's highly successful Dusk Dances: 2007 "Beneath the Willow", 2010 "Ripples",  2011 "Goose Lake", 2012 "The Four Elements" and 2014 "Evenfall".  Julie is an active teacher in the Artists In School program overseen by the Haliburton Arts Council which gives local artists the opportunity to teach within the local schools.
